GAME DAY PREVIEW PRESENTED BY RODRIGUEZ & ASSOCIATES

The Bakersfield Condors look for a weekend split with a Sunday matinee against the Calgary Wranglers. Bakersfield was 5-1-2 against Calgary a season ago.

LOOKING BACK

Trailing 2-0 after two periods on Friday, the Condors would cut the deficit to one on Quinn Hutson’s goal midway through the third period, but it would be as close as the team would get in a 2-1 loss to the Wranglers.

THREE FOR THREE

Hutson, who led all rookies last season with 30 goals, has scored in each of the first three games this season. Friday was his first even strength goal of the campaign. He is tied with Aku Raty for the team lead in shots with 13.

WAITING GAME

Six of the seven goals the Condors have scored this season have come in the third period.

THE MAJICIAN

Viljami Marjala has two assists in three games this year. He was second on the team last year with 43 helpers while playing in all 72 games. In the postseason, the Finnish center had six assists in three playoff contests.

HOMETOWN START

Connor Ungar is expected to start today in his hometown. He was 2-0-1 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage against the Wranglers a season ago.

AHL DEBUT ON TAP

Zach Bookman is expected to make his AHL debut today. The 24-year old played four seasons collegiately at Merrimack and Western Michigan University. In 2021-22 he set a new Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) record for points by a d-man with 102 in 55 games.

GOOD AT EVEN STRENGTH

At 5-on-5, the Condors have only surrendered four goals through the opening three games this season.

CHECKING IN ON CALGARY

The Wranglers are 3-0 on the year after Friday’s win. Connor Zary, in his first AHL action in over two years, scored the opening goal. Ben Jones, in his second stint with the Wranglers, had the game-winning power play goal.
