GAME RECAP: TASSY’S FIRST PRO GOAL SPRINGS CONDORS TO 5-4 WIN

The Bakersfield Condors (2-2-0, 4pts) split the weekend series with a 5-4 win over the Calgary Wranglers (3-1-0, 6pts) on Sunday afternoon. Quinn Hutson scored twice while Simon Tassy’s first pro goal held up as the game winner.

An early power-play goal gave Calgary a 1-0 lead in the first period, but the remainder of the frame belonged to the Condors. Daniel D’Amato (2nd) from the slot tied the game at 1-1 and then four minutes late Aku Raty (2nd) went low glove to make it a 2-1 lead after one period.

Calgary would respond in the second period, scoring two goals 28 seconds apart to take a 3-2 lead, seven minutes into the frame. Bakersfield answered back though as Hutson (4th, 5th) scored a pair of goals. The first tied the game at three off a feed from Viljami Marjala. The second came on a one-timer on the power play to make it 4-3.

Tassy (1st) scored his first professional goal, shorthanded at 3:57 of the third period, to extend the lead to 5-3. It would turn out to be the game winner as the Wranglers scored even strength five minutes later. Bakersfield would see out the game however for a 5-4 win.

Hutson is now second in the AHL with five goals in four games. The defensive pairing of Damien Carfagna and Tomas Cibulka combined for three assists and they were both +4.
