It was the ninth straight home win as the Bakersfield Condors (36-31-4, 76pts) shutout the Coachella Valley Firebirds (48-16-7, 103pts) 3-0, in front of a crowd of 5,821 on Friday. It was Calvin Pickard’s fourth shutout of the season as he stopped all 29 he faced to improve to 15-1-2 at home. Justin Bailey (19th) scored on the power play to give the Condors insurance in the third.
Bakersfield will be the five seed and will face either Colorado or Abbotsford in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
Bakersfield is 24-13-3 in its last40 overall and are 17-2-2 in their last 21 at home.
