Condors in the Community: 7th Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-thon coming up this weekend

Monday, Mar. 14

Colonel Clawd and Condors staff will be visiting Veterans Elementary located at 6301 Old Farm Rd. from 2 to 3 p.m. Colonel will be pumping up the kids as they kick off a fundraiser with the Condors to help raise money for their school.Stofkids

Tuesday, Mar. 15

Condors F Andrew Ianiero will be on 29 Eyewitness News at 6:15 a.m. Make sure to tune in as Ianiero will discuss the upcoming games this week as well as Hockey-thon this weekend, sponsored by 29 Eyewitness News.

Condors F Bobby Robins will be on KBFX Fox 58 at 7:15 a.m. to discuss the upcoming games this week.

Wednesday, Mar. 16

The Condors take on the Alaska Aces for High School/College ID Night, sponsored by 92.5 La Campesina. By presenting any High School or College ID you will receive a $1 ticket. The Condors will also be holding a School Supply and Book Collection sponsored by Wells Fargo to assist Olive Knolls Christian School, which recently was damaged in a fire. Fans who donate two gently used books or unopened school supplies can get $1 admission to the game. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Mar. 17

Condors Broadcaster, Kevin Bartl, will be on KERO ABC23 at 6:15 a.m. Make sure to tune in to catch Kevin discuss this weeks upcoming games as well as Hockey-thon this weekend.

Join Bob Mills as he hosts “Condors Insider”, Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. on Fox Sports Radio 970 AM. Tune in for interviews with players and staff, news and notes from around the ECHL and other features. Plus, don’t miss the ECHL Plays of the Week and the eagerly anticipated next segment of Frasnelly’s Over/Under.

Friday, Mar. 18

The Condors take on the Ontario Reign for Skateboard Deck Giveaway Night sponsored by ABC23 & 106.1 KRAB Radio. The first 2,000 kids, 17 & under, will receive a Condors Skateboard Deck. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Mar. 19

The Condors will be out at the Bakersfield Hyundai Dearlership located at 5300 Wible Rd. during the course of the day. A Condors player and Colonel Claw’d, will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with those who test drive a new Hyundai. If you test drive a car you will receive a voucher to Saturday night’s game.

Baby Cal and Condors staff will be at Little Ones Preschool located at 1705 17th St. from 3 to 4 p.m. Colonel will be joining the Preschool for their Second Annual Family Fun Event with games and activities.

The Condors take on the Ontario Reign for Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon presented by 29 Eyewitness News & KUZZ 107.9. This game will wrap up over 24 hours of hockey, as the Condors look to raise money for Links for Life in the battle against breast cancer. The Condors Alumni Hockey Game, which involves former Condors including, Scott Hay, Glen Mears, HockeythonPaul Rosebush, Joel Irving, and more, starts at 5 p.m., doors open at 4:45 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go to Links for Life.

It is also Trading Card Giveaway Night. The first 3,000 fans will receive strip #5 of 5 trading card collectors sets. It is the last Condors Kids Club Night sponsored by Bright House Networks, Bakersfield Californian, & Wells Fargo . All Kids Club members get free admission by presenting member badge.

St. Patrick’s Jersey Off Our Back Auction:

The Condors auctioned off their St. Patrick’s Day jerseys they wore to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. The auction raised a total of $18,000. The highest bid of the night was for Condors tough guy RW Erick Lizon, who garnered $1,650 for his sweater. Captain F Andrew Ianerio’s jersey brought in $1,300, extending his all-time record total to $32,650. Condors Jersey Off Our Backs Auctions have raised over $754,000 for local non-profits.

1,500 Pounds of Food Collected!

The Condors would like to thank everyone who donated non-perishable food items to the Condors Canned Food Drive. You helped contribute to a total of 1,500 pounds of food collected on Tuesday, Mar. 8 when Condors defeated the Idaho Steelheads 2-1. Over 21,000 pounds of canned goods have been collected in Condors History. The items were donated to the Golden Empire Gleaners, who distribute food to those in need around the Kern County area.

The 11th annual Tip-A-Condor Dinner is scheduled for next Monday, March 21st at fishlips located at 1517 18th St., in downtown Bakersfield. The event turns Condors players into waiters and entertainers for the night in an effort to collect tips for charity. All the proceeds will benefit the Kern County Shrine Club. This night also includes a live and silent auction.

Tickets are still available for $25 and include a choice of dinner options, and may be purchased in the Condors office, at any Condors home game, or at fishlips. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will start at 6 p.m. For more information call the Condors office at 324-PUCK(7825).
