Tonight’s match up:
The Condors face the Steelheads for the second straight game following a 2-1 victory for Bakersfield on Tuesday, although Idaho sandwiched in a 6-3 win over Ontario on Wednesday. Bakersfield holds a 5-2-1-0 record against Idaho this season, including 2-1-0-0 at home. The Steelheads have a three point lead over Bakersfield for third in the Western Conference. The Condors and Steelheads have met up 109 times since the 1997-98 season, with the Condors holding a 43-54-11 overall mark. Bakersfield’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is three points (either points gained by the Condors, or points the Ontario Reign fail to gain).
The Condors are 14-4-0 on Friday nights this season… D Evan Stoflet scored his fifth goal of the year on Tuesday, which stood as the game-winning goal. Three of his five goals this season have been game-winners, and four of his five goals have been scored in the third period… Bakersfield continues to be unbeaten when leading after two periods, increasing their record to 25-0-1… The Condors sit just two points behind Stockton for 4th in the Conference and 2nd in the division and thee points back of Idaho, who the Condors now have a game-in-hand against… G Brian Stewart has started six of the last seven games, and has earned wins in seven of his last eight starts.
The rights to LW Brad Snetsinger were traded to Florida for the rights to C Francis Lemieux. Both players are currently in the AHL… G Jim Watt was signed yesterday… G Manny Martinez was added as an Emergency Back-Up Goaltender on Tuesday and was released on Wednesday… C Joel Broda, RW Pascal Morency, and G Josh Tordjman all remain in the AHL with Houston after being recalled last week.
