Condors fall 6-4 to Toledo
Back in action on Tuesday in Cincinnati
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Bakersfield Condors (8-12-1-0, 17pts) came up just short against the Toledo Walleye (8-11-1-1, 18pts), falling 6-4 in front of 7,193 fans at the Hunting Center on Saturday night.
The Condors got on the board first with a shorthanded goal at the 15:47 mark. C Adam Naglich received a pass through center ice from F Andrew Ianiero, but was stopped by G Joe Palmer on the ensuing breakaway. Ianiero followed up his pass and knocked home the rebound to give the Condors a 1-0 lead. The Walleye countered with a power play goal just 18 seconds later, as LW Randy Rowe pounced on a rebound to tie the game 1-1 at the first intermission.
The Condors and Walleye traded goals in the second period as well. LW Andy Bohmbach struck with a turn-around shot from the right corner that slid between G Josh Tordjman and the post to put the Walleye up 2-1. D Joe Rullier scored in his first game as a Condor with a power play goal at the 15:11 mark of the second stanza. The Condors moved the puck from the left half-wall to the right point, and Rullier blasted it home to tie the game at two.
The Walleye regained their lead at the 3:30 mark in the third when Bohmbach scored his second of the night, but the Condors came storming back. F Jean-Marc Beaudoin scored his second of the year on a rebound that he put into the top shelf, and then Ianiero picked up his second of the game by jamming home a rebound giving the Condors a 4-3 lead. However, the Walleye got two goals in less than a minute at 17:05 and 17:55, and then added an empty net goal to take a 6-4 victory.
