Condors fall in shootout 2-1, win Pacific Division

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah The Bakersfield Condors (41-27-2-2, 86pts) held the Utah Grizzles (33-32-4-3, 73pts) to just 16 shots but fell 2-1 in a shootout in front of 6,629 fans at the Maverick Center on Saturday night. 

Neither team was able to crack the scoresheet in the first, as only 12 total shots were compiled by the two squads. The Grizzlies took the lead 6:15 into the third, when D Matt Clarke finished off a 3-on-2 rush by tapping a back door pass around G Jim Watt. F Michael Gergen evened the scoring just 1:46 before time expired in the middle frame. D Josh Burrows earned his first professional point with an assist on the play.

After neither side was able to earn the advantage in the third period or overtime, the game advanced to a shootout. Grizzlies F Paul McIlveen scored the lone shootout goal to lift Utah to a 2-1 shootout victory.

RW Erick Lizon served the final game of a two-game ECHL suspension tonight. He is eligible to return for the first game of the Kelly Cup Playoffs… D Josh Burrows skated as a forward for tonight’s game.
