One month from now it’ll be “puck is down, game is on, and we’re off and running on the 25th Anniversary Season.” This time of year always brings up one of our go-to office quotes “don’t worry about the horse, just load up the wagon.” Well, the wagon is loaded and we’re barreling into Opening Night.

You may still be wondering the meaning behind the quote, and that’s fine, but as I’ll remind you, it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want.

Now for the blog…

This season is all about celebrating all things good about Condorstown over the last 25 years. One of those being alums doing great things here in Bakersfield and around the globe. Evan Trupp, who for my money is up there in terms of pure skill I’ve seen in a Condors jersey, was recently named head coach of the Anchorage Wolverines of the North American Hockey League. He recently had a bout with cancer, so great to see him doing well. His linemate at North Dakota turned out to be a pretty good hockey player himself.

Dropped in to the “Our Two Cents” Podcast this past week with team president Matt Riley and Luke Esposito. Some great 25th anniversary nostalgia and what the future holds. You can get it wherever you get your podcasts or click here.

Unveiled yesterday, The Big 6 Pack is back and is the best way into the biggest Saturday night games of the year including Opening Night, which as I mentioned is a month away. It’s not me panicking. Click here to get yours.

Up in Edmonton, rookie camp got underway this week, with the Penticton Young Stars Tournament starting tomorrow. 11 players who played for the Condors last season are involved plus guys you’ll see in Bakersfield potentially this season. Here’s the full roster and schedule and below is Dylan Holloway previewing the season.

Speaking of Young Stars, Philip Broberg is one of nine game jerseys that are up for auction right now. The auction runs a week and benefits the Condors Community Foundation 501(c)(3). Click here to place your bids.

Hearing good (and rowdy!) things about the Bakersfield Roughnecks preseason contest this past weekend. The team is led by Condors legend Paul Willett. Friend of the blog Chad Carpenter’s son Noah scored the other night and goalie coach Sylvain Rodrigue’s younger son Emile is part of the squad too. They open on the road this weekend, but are home for three games next weekend next door at the Ice Sports Center.

Until next time Condorstown…

Ryan Holt aka Holty is in his 12th season as Voice of the Condors. Did he hit every College Football pick last week? Almost! Did he start his Fantasy Football back-to-back championship campaign 1-0? You bet he did. Follow him on Twitter @CondorsHolty for more nonsense or shoot him an e-mail rholt@bakersfieldcondors.com with questions, comments or blog ideas.
