Condors pay tribute to 9/11 and Navy Seal Team 6 with Specialty Jersey Veterans Day Weekend

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors have announced that the first Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle & Auction taking place on Saturday, November 12 vs. the Idaho Steelheads, will pay a special tribute to America’s fight against terrorism and specifically the ground zero 9/11 memorial site and the Navy Seal Team 6, sponsored by ABC23, 107.9 KUZZ, and American Business 9-11Machines. The specialty jerseys will be worn all three games during Veterans Day weekend. Everyone in attendance will have a chance to win one of five of the game worn jerseys. The remaining jerseys will be auctioned off during and after the game to benefit the Wounded Heroes Fund of Kern County. Also all military families with a military ID card will receive free admittance to the Saturday, November 12 game thanks to the Wounded Heroes Fund.

The specialty jersey will feature the New York sky line, including the 9/11 memorial lights, that now take place of the World Trade Center buildings. The Jersey will also feature the Seal Team 6 logo and motto: “The only easy day was yesterday.”

“When our staff said they wanted to do 9/11 tribute jersey, I then suggested we should celebrate Navy Seal Team 6 as well. To celebrate those guys and their accomplishments is amazing.” said Condors CEO Jonathan Fleisig, a resident of New York City. “9/11 brings back a lot of personal sadness to me, but I’m thrilled we are helping The Wounded Heroes Fund and celebrating Navy Seal Team 6.

The Wounded Heroes Fund of Kern County (WHF), a community-wide organization dedicated to providing assistance to brave service men and women returning home from the battlegrounds of Iraq and Afghanistan.

“With the proceeds from the auction being given to the Wounded Heroes Fund, I think it just shows how much our community supports our military and our wounded veterans so we can take care of them once they get home,” said Executive Director of WHF Wendy Porter. “Most of Kern County’s seriously wounded soldiers enlisted because of 9/11 and it’s great the Condors are paying tribute to the 10 year anniversary this season.”

The Condors Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auctions raised over $66,000 in the 2010-11 season alone, and have raised over $768,000 in Condors History!
