Condors take down Thunder 5-3

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Bakersfield Condors (27-24-2-1, 55pts) received two goals from C Joel Broda and RW Pascal Morency as they knocked off the Stockton Thunder (27-17-4-5, 63pts) 5-3 in front of 3,210 fans at Stockton Arena Tuesday night.

Stockton came out firing as C Chris Lawrence assisted on the first goal by RW Frasier Clair at 4:43 and then scored a goal of his own, putting the Condors down 2-0 just 8:44 into the first frame. RW Stephane Goulet sliced into the lead with 1:37 left in the first as he flipped a rebound past G Zane Kalemba and the Condors went into the first intermission trailing 2-1.

Morency finished erasing the deficit when he came off the bench, knocked a puck loose, and snapped it past Kalemba to even the score at 2-2 with 3:56 into the second. Morency added his second goal of the night with 4:16 remaining in the frame, snapping a shot to the top right corner on a partial break, to put Bakersfield up 3-2.

Broda scored twice for the Condors in the first 3:03 of third, one goal during 4-on-4 action and another shorthanded as Bakersfield grabbed a commanding 5-2 lead in the third. C Pierre-Andre Bureau added a third goal for Stockton at 6:48, but the Condors shut down the Thunder to earn a 5-3 win.
