Condors drop OT contest to Steelheads, 3-2

BOISE, Idaho – The Bakersfield Condors (23-21-2-1, 49pts) were outlasted by the Idaho Steelheads (24-16-3-7, 56pts) 3-2 in overtime in front of 3,363 fans at Qwest Arena Wednesday night.

The Condors blasted 14 shots during the first period, but all were turned aside by G Tyler Beskorowany. The Steelheads struck first, as C Marty Flichel deflected a one-timer from the top of the slot past G Josh Tordjman 1:26 into the second period. D Tyler Gotto evened the scoring at 5:09, as he finished off a Condors power play with a slap shot just inside the left post. C Adam Naglich put the Condors on top when he knocked home a back door pass, as the Condors led 2-1 at 14:06. F Aki Seitsonen struck right back, scoring less than two minutes later and the teams went into the second intermission tied 2-2.

Neither team was able to strike in the third, but the Steelheads were able to take the victory in overtime. F Geoff Irwin took the puck into the attacking end and fired it towards the net, but it hit a Condors defenseman and bounced past Tordjman to give the Steelheads an OT victory with just 17 seconds left in the overtime frame.
